It all began with an idea.
When Immanuel Lutheran Church turned 100 years old in August 1986, it moved to its current location at 950 Hart Road in Batavia. Church members and families walked from the former location on Webster Street to the new church on the hill in formation behind a cross held aloft.
An education wing was added to the new building in 1993 and the preschool, begun in 1989, expanded to include Kindergarten. Grades one and two were added in 1996 and the school continued to grow through eighth grade. A second addition that included a library, technology lab, gymnasium and additional classrooms was added in 2005.
We currently serve more than 200 students in three preschool classrooms, an elementary division consisting of Kindergarten through Grade 5, and a departmentalized middle school that graduates students to the area's best high schools.
With a full-size gymnasium, onsite library with more than 1,500 titles, and technology and science labs, Immanuel lovingly provides the highest quality education for children.
Immanuel Lutheran School welcomes children of all races, creeds, national, and ethnic origins.
Immanuel Lutheran School was first accredited by National Lutheran School Accreditation in Sep. 2001. The school received Non-Public School Recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education in Sep. 2002.
National Lutheran School Accreditation is renewed every seven years. Following the 2008 accreditation process, Immanuel Lutheran School received the Exemplary Status designation for the 2009-2010 school year from National Lutheran School Accreditation. Immanuel was one of three schools nationwide to receive this designation in 2009. Immanuel continues to maintain its Accreditation, most recently renewing it in 2021.
