At Immanuel, we provide a safe, faith-based environment for your child spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Children are naturally curious, and they love to learn. Immanuel seizes this opportunity to reinforce their inborn love for learning through age-appropriate integrated instructional activities that set the stage for students who love school and love to learn for a lifetime.

The preschool program is designed to prepare a child for Kindergarten and beyond. In following with the State of Illinois guidelines, children must be age-appropriate for the class on or before the Sep. 1 State of Illinois deadline. This learning environment includes an integrated thematic curriculum. Each theme is drawn from Bible stories and academic themes and is explored through the use of learning centers with related activities. While the daily schedule offers both freedom of movement and freedom of choice, it also includes activities that are more structured. These varied experiences allow each child to develop his or her own unique approach to learning as well as learning expected classroom participation.

All of our teaching staff have degrees. Preschool teacher-to-student ratio is better than 12:1 and aides are added to any class with more than 10 students.

Fine Motor Skills Developing these skills is the first step in learning to color, draw and ultimately write. Children work on sorting, cutting and pasting, bead threading, and more.

Large Motor Skills These skills enable children to perform everyday functions, such as walking, running, and skipping; as well as playground and sporting skills [e.g. catching, throwing and hitting a ball with a bat]. These skills are crucial for everyday self-care activities such as dressing. Children develop large motor agility through recess and gym time, songs with movement, and more.

Play-Based Learning Time Active experimentation in the social and emotional roles of life helps teach children the moral development skill of empathy along with problem-solving and executive functioning skills.

Letters, Numbers, Colors A weekly focus in each of these areas helps build proficiency. Children develop recognition skills and work on beginning phonics, counting, and sorting by color.

Reading Readiness Work in this area includes picture books, story time, and patterning activities.

Socialization Children learn to work in groups as well as independently.

Kindergarten Readiness Goals Developmentally appropriate practices based on childhood development research and best practices through authentic assessment of each child.

Spiritual Foundation Children learn introductory Bible themes and stories from both the Old and New Testaments and how they relate to the world the children see around them.

Faith Formation Beloved Bible stories are woven throughout the integrated curriculum, which enables even these young students to become aware of God's daily presence in their lives and how He cares for us through our families, friends, and community helpers. They are excited to make the connection between their experiences and what they hear from God's word. These young children are excited to actively share not only their love, but God's love, with everyone they encounter.
